At UNICEF COLOMBIA we work to generate positive changes in the lives of children and adolescents. Our current work plan runs from 2021 to the end of 2024 and aims to ensure that children and adolescents enjoy their rights through equitable access to social services, improve their learning and live protected from all types of violence.
We work throughout Colombia, with special focus on the departments where children have fewer opportunities: Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia, Córdoba, Amazonas, Putumayo, La Guajira, Caquetá, Atlántico, Arauca and Norte de Santander.

Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the Health & Nutrition Officer NOB, the Health & Nutrition Officer NOA provides professional technical assistance and support for programme/project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of programme/project activities, including data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge networking and capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with Health & Nutrition programme goals and strategy.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- University degree in Public Health and Nutrition, Child Development, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum of One (1) year of professional work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of health programmes.
- Professional work experience in a programme management function or a technical expert capacity in child survival & health care.
- Previous experience effectively working with government and partner organizations in Colombia is an asset.
- Prior experience in related programme functions is an asset.
- Humanitarian: Background/familiarity with Emergency preparedness and response, and/or working with vulnerable communities is an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Ability to be flexible and hard-working, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications e.g. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to analyze data to inform decision making.
- Language Proficiency: Good level of English is required and knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.

- Child and Maternal Nutrition and Health Nutrition and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
- Public Health and Nutrition
- Educational Interventions in Health and Nutrition Care
- Environmental Health and Nutrition
- Knowledge Management
- Knowledge of global health and nutrition issues, specifically relating to children and women, and the current trends, methods and approaches.
- Policies and strategy to address national and global health and nutrition issues, particularly relating to conflicts, natural disasters, and recovery.
- Emergency programme policies, goals, strategies and approaches.
- Gender equality and diversity awareness
