At UNICEF COLOMBIA we work to generate positive changes in the lives of children and adolescents. Our current work plan runs from 2021 to the end of 2024 and aims to ensure that children and adolescents enjoy their rights through equitable access to social services, improve their learning and live protected from all types of violence.
We work throughout Colombia, with special focus on the departments where children have fewer opportunities: Chocó, Cauca, Nariño, Antioquia, Córdoba, Amazonas, Putumayo, La Guajira, Caquetá, Atlántico, Arauca and Norte de Santander.

How can you make a difference?
Under the close supervision and guidance of the Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Assistant provides administrative, procedural and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions for all categories of staff in his/her office, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.
The focus of the HR position at this level is on the provision of both standardized and specialized activities pertaining to recruitment and placement, administration of entitlements, staff development and career development, performance management and wellbeing. Specialized activities pertain to the application of HR regulations, rules and procedures in the context of clear guidelines and procedures where the choice of action is limited and where issues requiring clarification and decision are directed to the relevant HR Business Partner.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in Social Sciences, Business Administration or other related to the field of work.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in Human Resources areas as a generalist or implementing different HR processes
- Good technical knowledge of HR function
- Experience in the implementation and monitoring of HR actions (Recruitment, induction, training and development, wellbeing)
- A strong communication and impact at all levels
- Great attention to detail, as well administrative experience and exceptional customer service, while ensuring absolute data accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
- Relevant experience in the public sector or in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Ability to be flexible and hard-working, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications e.g. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to analyze data to inform decision making.
- Knowledge of SAP HR module is an asset
- Good level of English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
