The Danish Refugee Council/Danish Demining Group (DRC/DDG) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance with a rights-based approach to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees and migrants.

Overall purpose of the role

Provide Human Resources administrative assistance and support in compliance with DRC’s and local guidelines and procedures. Supervise members in team and deliver technical support and guidance to team.

Geographic scope: Area (Caquetá)

This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to base operations.

Main responsibilities

Management

  • Lead and manage the team (including people planning, performance, well-being and development)
  • Ensure effective planning and quality implementation of the sector/support activities.
  • Ensure daily monitoring of area.
  • Asses the daily quality.
  • Provide technical support and inputs.
  • Reporting

General Human Resources tasks

  • Advise and assist management and employees in Human Resources related issues and concerns.
  • Review Human Resources processes and suggests improvements.

Compensations & benefits

  • Manage, update and process the staff payrolls in close collaboration with the other departments, and ensure onward submission to finance department.
  • Ensure that all relevant deductions are effected on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and submit required reports on a monthly basis for auditing purposes.
  • Ensure that records of all Human Resources related information is kept and sent on timely basis to relevant parties.

Development, people planning, recruitment and well-being

  • Ensure that the performance appraisal process is conducted, and that there are learning and development opportunities available to the employee.
  • Assist in inducting training on Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Conflict of Interest, etc. as needed.
  • Assist in people planning activities (e.g. ensure job descriptions are in place for all roles).
  • Assist or drive recruitment processes as needed.
  • Assist or drive people well-being initiatives.

Support staff development activities including promoting the DRC Learning Catalogue.

As Team Leader the post-holder is responsible for the following:

  • Accountable for people management of employees, usually working in the same area of work.
  • Accountable for ensuring that agreed work plans and tasks set by the next-level up Manager are implemented on time.
  • Hiring and termination of employees and conducting performance appraisals (closely overseen by the next-level manager)

Required experience and competencies

  • Minimum 3 years’ of relevant experience in Human Resources management, administration, change management, and/or organizational development.
  • Proven management skills and a competence in people management.
  • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Technical skills in managing compensation and benefits
  • (I)NGO experience is preferred.
  • Experience using an online system for recruitments
  • Full professional proficiency in English

Required education

  • Master’s degree in Human Resource
  • Management, Business, or Social Science Degree specializing in Human Resources

Languages:

  • Spanish (fluent)
  • English (professional proficiency)

We offer

  • Commencement: 03/05/2021
  • Duty station: Caquetá
  • Contract length: 6 months renewable depending on funding.
  • Position Level: Band G star in $4.415.814
