The International Labour Organization (ILO) is the United Nations agency for the world of work. We bring together governments, employers and workers to improve the working lives of all people, driving a human-centred approach to the future of work through employment creation, rights at work, social protection and social dialogue.

The ILO is looking to appoint a member to its Independent Oversight Advisory Committee (IOAC), for a three-year term commencing 1 January 2022. The IOAC is a subsidiary body of the ILO’s Governing Body. It serves in an expert advisory capacity and provides independent, external, senior level, expert advice to the Governing Body and to the Director-General in fulfilling their governance responsibilities. The member should possess knowledge, skills and senior-level experience in at least one of the following areas:

1. finance and audit;
2. organization governance and accountability structure, including investigation, ethics and risk management;
3. senior-level management;
4. the organization, structure and functioning of the United Nations system and/or other intergovernmental organizations; and
5. a general understanding of the ILO’s mandate, values and objectives.

Please note that the selected member will not receive a fee for services rendered. The member will, however, receive a daily subsistence allowance and be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred to attend Committee meetings. The Committee will, in principle, meet up to three times per year, normally in Geneva, Switzerland. Under COVID-19 conditions, the Committee has also been holding virtual meetings.
