The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships Section (PSFP) within the Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF Country Offices to maximize revenue and drive income growth. Inside PSFP, the Digital team is implementing a new Digital Revenue Strategy to Inspire, Collaborate and Enable markets to improve their digital fundraising results. The vision is to become the best and most successful non-profit digital fundraising program in the world. 

How can you make a difference?

The individual contractor will work across the Individual Giving unit collaborating with PFP and global fundraising teams and working with Knowledge Management teams to capture best practice and create content that helps the Individual Giving unit achieve its learning and influencing objectives.

MAIN TASKS

As a self-starter with outstanding communication skills (written and verbal), you will work closely with the Individual Giving Unit to support the implementation of the Knowledge Management Strategy. You will:

  • Interview colleagues around the globe to learn about their digital successes.
  • Become a key contributor to internal communications channels to promote and share learnings.
  • Be a regular reviewer and contributor for training and knowledge materials produced by external vendors.

DELIVERABLES

  • Identify fundraising learning opportunities to create a comprehensive content calendar.
  • Document fundraising best practices and learnings. Converting research into appropriate formats for distribution or publishing (case studies, newsletters, podcasts, presentation decks, white papers etc.).
  • Create impactful stories and case studies to be published regularly on internal communication channels and platforms.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

Estimated 150 – 250 working days (to be agreed) in the 11.5 months contract duration, tentatively starting in Dec 2021.

Fundraising Specialist, Individual Giving, PFP, based in Geneva, Switzerland

WORKPLACE

Home-based with at least 50% overlap with Geneva Time Zone.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • A first level university degree in Marketing, Communication or other relevant fields is an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years work experience with at least 2 years in a communications/copywriting or related role.
  • Experience of developing or contributing to internal communications strategies is required.
  • International experience in a professional environment is an advantage. 
  • Experience working for a Digital Agency and/or within a Digital environment preferred.
  • Fundraising/NFP knowledge is an advantage.
  • Experience of writing for a variety of audiences, with the ability to take complex concepts and translate them into easily digestible information is desirable.
  • Experience of using a web content management system (CMS) is desirable.
  • Experience of measuring effectiveness of internal communications is desirable.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required. 
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is considered as an asset. 

Person Profile:

  • A curious mindset and ability to relate to people at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrable web copywriting skills and experience.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and create communication materials (case studies, posts, white papers, presentations, podcasts etc.).
  • Understanding of digital technologies used in internal communications.
  • An understanding and interest in digital marketing and/or Digital Fundraising.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to deliver on commitments.
