UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, hope

The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) works with National Committees and UNICEF Country Offices to maximize income and drive income growth to support UNICEF’s mission.

The global legacy community engagement individual contractor will work as part of the legacy team within the wider Individual Giving team, who work with markets to directly influence private sector income. Legacies contribute towards the strategic plan 2018-21 goals for Individual supporters through both revenues raised and the number of supporters leaving and interested in leaving a legacy gift to UNICEF. The PFP legacy team drive for results through their work to implement the global legacy strategy with the private sector fundraising markets.

How can you make a difference?

Over the past 5 years, across UNICEF we have built a vibrant, engaged and highly motivated global community of legacy giving frontline fundraisers from our private sector fundraising markets. As more of our markets start or scale up their legacy fundraising programs, we see increased demand from markets for support from the PFP legacy team that we want to deliver on. During the pandemic, we have also seen more demand for an increase in the legacy community dialogue and peer to peer support offered through remote and virtual knowledge sharing experiences in our increasingly networked world that we want to facilitate further.

The global legacy community is a significant asset to UNICEF and there is incredible opportunity for further building competencies across the network, that drives engagement and alignment behind the global legacy strategy. This enables clarity for fundraising markets on their contribution, creates excitement of the part they play and empowers them to deliver on this strategically important unrestricted revenue source of income for UNICEF.

Enabling our legacy community further has the potential to inspire the whole organization to be advocates for legacy fundraising, therefore building commitment and pride in the unique nature of legacy giving. Ultimately this increases the recognition of our generous supporters who choose to support UNICEF and help children in this way.

As we plan to enable and empower our legacy community further, we have seen there are many possibilities to deliver more legacy market development support remotely. We have also seen that there may be further advantages of managing some of our markets with more of a mass approach and we want to further explore continuing this way of working in 2021.
