Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this post is to provide technical support for the provision of ICT services in Rome.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head of the SAP Unit (OPES) within the Operations Division (OP) and in close collaboration with the OPES team.

As part of the delivery of ICC team in Rome, s/he will perform systems support delivering HW, OS and Applications support for the local managed DataCentre and ICC partners. S/he will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to the with technical team delivering HW, OS and Applications support for the local managed DataCentre
  • Design, Produce and update documentation as required and documenting SOPs and standard procedures
  • Coordinate daily local team activities including First and Second Level troubleshooting for Citrix, Microsoft Active Directory, Backup/Restore, OS and HW related issues
  • Propose incremental enhancements to existing functionality and/or new functionality as needed and effectively analyses root causes to provide solutions for production and development or assure optimization of systems utilizing best practices
  • Management of various systems and applications including HW/OS and Applications Administration tasks for ICC Datacentre, VMware administration, including setup and configuration of virtual machines and Basic storage management (SAN), installation and troubleshooting at OS level (Microsoft and Linux environments), Microsoft Active Directory and Citrix farm, Microsoft SCCM and SCOM infrastructure and Antivirus infrastructure
  • Participate actively in the design, development and installation of required information systems
  • Ensure proper communication and maintain good business relationships between customers and ICC in relation to Incidents, Requests, Changes and any other Service Management related activities and propose improvements.
  • Implement project-type activities and other requests for services.
  • In case of emergencies, provide support (either on-site or remotely using VPN connectivity) outside normal working hours.
  • Provide standby and on-call support as and when required
  • Provide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management

Recruitment Profile

Experience and skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five years of relevant experience of infrastructure platforms and providing support in an IT enterprise environment.
  • The required skills include the following:
    • Documentation: create, maintain and optimize SOPs and support the delivery of regular reports on service management
    • Virtualization technologies: VMware
    • Windows and Linux Operating Systems
    • Microsoft Active Directory, DNS
    • SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite
    • Backup and EMC Avamar tool
    • Microsoft SCCM/SCOM suite
    • McAfee EPO Antivirus suite
    • Customer oriented skills

Desirable:

  • Basic knowledge on Citrix technologies
  • Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN and SAN technologies
  • Knowledge of and experience with standard processes for managing IT environments, including topics such as Change Management, Problem Management, Configuration Management, and Incident Management
  • Knowledge of and experience in the automation of system administration tasks
  • Capability to transfer skills within a team environment
  • Knowledge of security practices and principles

Education:

Essential:

  • IT Bachelor university degree
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • Technical certifications on Microsoft and/or VMWare products

Desirable:

  • Technical certifications an advantage
  • Prince2 Practitioner Certification
  • ISO 20000 and/or 27000 Certification

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Italian: Beginner knowledge is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of other recognized UN languages is desirable

Other Information

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate), including post adjustment (39,5% on March 2021): 85,041 USD
