Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the–International Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager- Maternity Cover at London or any existing Save the Children International office location.
Role Purpose:
Save the Children has launched its ambitious 2019 – 2021 strategic plan with the aim of significantly increasing both unrestricted and smart restricted funds (smart restricted is defined as income from corporate partnerships and major donors that funds the priority programmes for children).
Global Philanthropy and Partnerships is a new priority area within Save the Children International. This is a new role, interacting with senior fundraisers and leaders internationally. The International Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager will support, join up, and grow the global Save the Children community of philanthropy and corporate fundraising professionals.
The Global Fundraising & Marketing Hub of Save the Children International provides strategic support and technical guidance to our Members in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. A number of the team members work remotely and the location of this job is flexible. The role will involve travel to support philanthropy (both corporate partnerships and major donors) in new markets as well as more established fundraising markets.
The purpose of this role is to lead on and develop, drive and promote best practice in philanthropy (both corporate partnerships and major donors) across the Save the Children movement in order to increase long-term smart restricted income (smart restricted is defined as income from corporate partnerships and major donors that funds the priority programmes for children).
The breakdown of time spent in supporting each area is anticipated to be as follows: philanthropy/major gifts (45%); corporate partnerships (45%); and other priority areas, such as humanitarian (10%).
The International Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager will:
- Lead on developing a strong network across Members to drive a significant increase in smart restricted income through improvements in current major giving and corporate partnerships strategies
- Support the global communities of Major Gifts and Corporate Partnerships practitioners across the Save the Children movement
- Support the development and implementation of a Global Philanthropy and Partnerships strategy, including specific global campaigns, as well all broader strategic global and leadership development towards the organisation’s global philanthropy and partnerships potential
- Take responsibility for identifying the critical insights and then influence Members to maximise opportunities to increase the value
- Create collaborative ways of working and initiatives with the SCI fundraising team to ensure that effective strategies are developed, embedded and integrated across other fundraising channels.
As part of the Global Fundraising & Marketing Hub team within Save the Children International, the role will be motivated by influencing, training and working alongside our colleagues around the world.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary work hours accordingly.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience in leading on the development of strategies for effective philanthropy and partnerships programmes in complex international organisations with multiple stakeholders
- Experience of representing an international team and organisation to senior staff at national/international levels to influence their fundraising programmes and priorities
- Substantial proven experience influencing major giving and corporate fundraising activities with a demonstrable record of success. Experience in doing this in multiple markets is an advantage
- Experience in developing organisational strategies and plans and measuring effectiveness
- Excellent skills across mail, telephone and digital essential
- Demonstrable understanding or experience of working within a team with knowledge management and skill sharing responsibilities equivalent in scale and focus to this role in multiple countries including more mature as well as start-ups in emerging markets
- Capacity to build and maintain excellent relations and to work effectively in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment respecting diversity
- Experience of working in a support role to a diverse range of fundraising markets
- Strong personal organisational and self-management skills with an ability to lead and work in teams and motivate others
- Ability to think critically, objectively, analytically and strategically, solve problems quickly and show initiative
- An assertive and persuasive negotiator
- Ability to articulate the work of Save the Children with passion
- A self-starter using initiative to see opportunities to achieve objectives in this role
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Strong IT skills particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Fluent in English with excellent writing and speaking mandatory, additional language skills such as Spanish would be an asset
- Willing to travel to support members directly or to relevant events as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree or other relevant professional qualification or experience
We can offer circa £ 44,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.
This role can be based in any existing Save the Children International office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
