Our programmes focus on improving the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the Kingdom, irrespective of their nationality, gender, religion or background. Our main pillars include: Child Protection; Education; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Adolescent and Youth Engagement; Health and Nutrition; Social Protection; and Operations.

How can you make a difference?

The two interns are expected to support either/or in the below tasks: 

Internship 1: Events and Media

  • Plan and coordinate activities to mark key events in cooperation with programme colleagues and communication team.
  • Support in drafting communication material, press releases, articles, pitches, key messages, talking points, monitoring reports
  • Work with young activists / influencers to amplify their voices covering these events
  • Logistics (security, registration, room set-up, securing services and permits for the event and locations, etc)
  • Assist with media interview scheduling and coordination.
  • Maintain and update a database of media contacts. 
  • Monitor media in featuring news articles relevant to developments in the Arabic speaking and international media outlets, as well as media coverage of UNICEF’s activities.
  • Support in generating monthly analytic reports

 Internship 2: Social Media and content

  • To provide quality and timely communication content including human interest stories and UNICEF/partner success stories, supported by photographs and infographics.
  • Facilitate preparation of communication content for social media, presentations and media and donor reporting. 
  • Support production of short videos that showcases issues of children and UNICEF work
  • Support the development of content for new and emerging platforms to reach new audiences for UNICEF
  • Prepare communication content and schedule posts in Arabic and English in consultation with the Communication Officer.
  • Supports management and upload of content to UNICEF’s Jordan’s social media.
  • Gather and monitor data for monthly analytical reports on Jordan CO social media interactivity.
  • Support in designing /developing social media designs when required.

Modality: Paid internship – Fulltime

Tentative start date: August 2021

Duration: 3 months

Location: Amman, UNICEF Jordan Country Office

To qualify as a champion for every child you will…

Education: Be enrolled in an university degree preferably in journalism, marketing, communication, broadcast media or related area. Or have graduated within the last 2 years.

Experience and skills: 

Prior work experiences or relevant background in social media / communication is desired.

Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with humanitarian sector is considered an asset.

Strong research and writing skills. Advanced skills in Excel

Prior experience in broadcast media and knowledge of graphic and layout software applications including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Microsoft is desired.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
