We are seeking a seasoned Gender Expert, with experience working with small-scale agriculture farmers (cotton farmers is preferable) in Mozambique – particularly women – who can be a focal technical person for the implementation of a partnership with Better Cotton Initiative under the WOW Programme.

The programme seeks to support increased economic empowerment of women cotton farmers, with a primary focus on promoting recognition of women in cotton production, and improving their access to knowledge and training. We are seeking an exceptional consultant for the first phase of the programme which is focused on the successful completion of a scoping study in Niassa and Nampula provinces of Mozambique, as well as a review of materials to develop capacity building recommendations. The deliverables for this assignment will be:

  • Commenting on the scoping study research tools;
  • Recommendations matrix for capacity building requirements of the BCI national partners
  • Virtual presentation of initial study findings and recommendations to CARE and BCI; and
  • Co-submission with a Cotton Value Chain Consultant of the scoping study research report and recommendations.
