The Organisation

WEstjustice is a leading community legal centre providing free services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people. From our offices in Footscray, Werribee and Sunshine and through outreach services, we provide advice on a broad range of issues including employment, discrimination, consumer disputes, tenancy, credit and debt, family disputes, family violence, criminal law and more. We operate a multidisciplinary service, providing holistic legal, financial counselling and social worker support to people in Melbourne’s west which provides a comprehensive wrap-around service for those who need support within our community.

The Role

WEstjustice is seeking to employ a part time Legal Administrator on a 12-months fixed term contract, (with potential for a longer-term contract depending on availability of funding), to join our growing Employment & Equality Law team.

Reporting to the Employment & Equality Law Director, you will provide a wide range of legal administrative support services to our lawyers of Employment & Equality Law team and assist them to deliver legal services for our clients. You will undertake legal research, prepare documentation for clients, and assist with client intake and triage.

The role is four days per week and is initially based at our Footscray office but will move to our Sunshine office mid-year. The role may be required to work at our other offices (located in the western suburbs of Melbourne including Werribee or the CBD) and/or partner organisation sites, depending on program need.

Role Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide client focused services in a complex, confidential and sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide administrative support including excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads, meet timelines and work under pressure.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate with clients who are often people who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills to ensure that clients.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly to ensure sound understanding.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft 365 and cloud-based client management and telephone software.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability and commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment as well as working autonomously.

Remuneration:

Salary range – $73,263.00 per annum to $78,560.00 pro rata (dependent on experience) employer funded superannuation in accordance with Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 (Cth).
