Job Summary The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s Research Administration department is seeking candidates for the Contract and Grants Manager position. This position will provide strategic support to College of Engineering faculty for the identification, development, management and expansion of their research programs.

Formal AU Title: Mgr, Res Prg Dev&Grat-Col/Sch
Essential Functions Aide college faculty in identifying external research opportunities, developing and reviewing proposals for extramural consideration and funding. Will implement assistance to faculty for required reporting efforts as well as award closeout.
Develop and maintain metrics, quantitative and qualitative data support to help drive new training, development plans, and areas for research opportunities. Manages and leads all data collection and data analysis efforts for research support in the College of Engineering.
Train and manage new and existing employees within the college of engineering in research proposal development, electronic research administration, internal processes and procedures, external funding agency requirements and research award management. Develops training related to research training opportunities including in-person training, website and online tools, and e-module development
Develop management and strategic initiatives to grow research enterprise through competitive grants proposals for federal agencies, and other sponsors including state and non-profits/foundations.
Aide in efforts to build an AI system to collect key words in research summaries that match actual work with future funding and research opportunities to build teams of researchers for multi-disciplinary proposals.
Supports other activities that may arise aimed at increasing productivity in strategic research areas and external funding opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
Experience:
5 years of experience in developing research opportunities, grant preparation, grant accounting with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. Must have at least 1 years experience supervising full-time employees.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

Minimum Skills and Abilities Excellent customer service skills, time management skills and self-motivation.
Knowledge of the nature of research at the university level as well as an understanding of assessment and evaluation, work plan development, and budget development
Knowledge/experience in: reading and interpreting requests for proposals and government grant policies/regulations; contract and grant proposal development; sponsored program administration; the management of research project contracts and grants; working with faculty and personnel within higher education; knowledge of Uniform Guidance, or familiarity with ITAR/EAR/Export Controls. Fluency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
Minimum Technology Skills
Minimum License and Certifications None Required.

Desired Qualifications

Desired Qualifications Experience in accounting services involving post-award and sponsored research activities.
Knowledge of university policies & procedures, governing regulations
Knowledge of contract and grant procedures and ability to apply policies and accounting practices.
MBA or CPA
