Preference for candidates located near our priority projects in  Northern California, Rocky Mountains, or the Pacific Northwest. Role includes periodic international travel to our Amsterdam HQ, as well as frequent travel within North America to local project sites and regular participation in conferences and events.

CONTEXT 

This year, in North America we will restore more than 3,000 acres of forest lost to wildfires. Our ambition doesn’t stop there – we are expanding our impact, projecting growth to 25,000 acres of restoration annually in the next 5 years. At the heart of our efforts in North America is a dedicated team of 6 professionals, set to grow to 10-15 staff in the next 18 months. This team works together to foster collaboration with local communities and partners; engage public and private landowners to implement high-quality, nature restoration; and partner with major companies and investors to unlock private markets to restore nature. 

As our Director, you will be responsible for the creation and delivery of the strategy to achieve these ambitious targets. You will build and lead the team in North America and steward Land Life Company’s business. The role is tailor-made for those with an entrepreneurial mindset, who find joy in navigating the commercial, operational and technical aspects of a growing, mission-driven business in nature restoration. Those who thrive in strategic thinking, connecting with partners, building teams and organizations, and innovating to respond to some of the largest conservation issues facing our planet will be successful in this role. 

 

THIS IS THE ROLE

  • Build and adapt the North American strategy in alignment with the Company’s global priorities, work with colleagues locally and internationally to create region-specific strategies that set a clear path for growth.
  • Cultivate a robust pipeline of projects to meet customer demand, scaling our mission and our outcomes year after year.
  • Oversee projects with a keen eye on safety, timeliness, budget, and innovative use of technology.
  • Elevate Land Life’s presence, embodying our mission at events and conferences.
  • Forge strong internal partnerships across international geographies by serving as a senior member of the international organization – providing expertise and input to shape the future of the organization as a whole.
  • Inspire and grow a team in North America dedicated to scaling our vision.
  • Work with colleagues to develop commercial opportunities and explore new market mechanisms.
  • Manage all facets of our North American entity, including budgets, payroll, and contracting.

THIS IS YOU

  • 10+ years experience in management, organizational leadership, business scale-ups, and/or sustainability/conservation efforts. 
  • Deep knowledge in nature restoration, climate solutions, or other market mechanisms. 
  • A relevant network that spans companies, governments, NGOs in North America.
  • Financials and strategic acumen.
  • Demonstrated leadership excellence with a talent for independent, well-informed decision-making.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a history of achieving goals.
  • A clear communicator, with strong stakeholder relations.
  • Demonstrated success in growing, managing and developing teams.

We invite you to steer a highly engaged, rapidly growing international nature restoration company towards impact you can see. This position has a competitive salary, depending experience, qualifications and location of the position. 
Land Life also offers a competitive benefits package including 20 days vacation, 10 holidays, and continuation of full salary payment during the first 26 weeks of any extended illness. Other benefits include coverage of up to 100% of health insurance, a 401K with 3% contribution from Land Life – no match or vesting required, and potential for bonuses.
