Overall description:
Eurelectric is looking for a head of unit of markets, investments and customers. As Head of Unit, you will manage and develop a skilled and motivated team, steer Eurelectric’s positions on some of the most critical energy dossiers and engage regularly with senior stakeholders. This role offers a high degree of visibility and influence over EU-level electricity market reforms during a critical phase of the energy transition. You will report to the Policy Director, work closely with the Secretary General and become part of the policy leadership team.
Key responsibilities:
- Leadership & strategy:
- Lead, inspire and develop a team of policy professionals, setting priorities, objectives and deliverables;
- Define strategic priorities and steer the unit’s work programme in close coordination with senior management and other policy teams;
- Contribute to organisational and resource planning and cross-cutting policy initiatives.
- Policy & advocacy:
- Translate complex regulatory and technical developments into clear and persuasive policy messages;
- Shape and drive Eurelectric’s advocacy on key electricity market and investment files including:
- Electricity market design issues, including wholesale and retail markets, power purchase agreements (PPAs), contracting and capacity mechanisms;
- Market integration and trading frameworks, supporting the development of a wellfunctioning and integrated European electricity market;
- Investment frameworks, including sustainable finance, State aid, and regulatory conditions for long-term investment;
- Customer-related policy, including affordability, consumer engagement, demand-side flexibility, empowerment, and protection.
- External representation & Member engagement:
- Represent Eurelectric externally towards EU institutions, regulators, industry partners and international fora;
- Build trusted relationships with policymakers, regulators, academia and other stakeholders;
- Chair and steer expert committees on electricity markets, balancing diverse national perspectives and building strong pan European positions.
Requirements and competencies:
- At least 8 years’ professional experience in EU climate & energy policy and/or electricity markets;
- Demonstrated experience in people development, team leadership and stakeholder engagement;
- Proven ability to navigate EU legislative and regulatory processes, influencing policy outcomes;
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills. Proven communicator with experience presenting externally;
- Flexible and resilient mindset with a proactive, team-orientated attitude.
