Research Assistant with Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division (Adv#67/2026)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.

The Programme for Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Disease Division has prioritized key areas, including TB detection and diagnosis, enhanced detection of resistant and pediatric/adult TB, acknowledging drug resistance patterns, genotyping, and other initiatives utilizing new innovative laboratory-based technologies.

Key Responsibilities

The Research Assistants will directly report to the Scientist. The major areas of responsibilities include:

Conduct routine laboratory tests, specimen processing, PCR, DST, reagent preparation, and isolate storage as per SOP;

Interpret test results, maintain records, and ensure timely reporting;

Analyze data, prepare reports, and share findings with supervisors;

Maintain coordination with project teams and present updated data in meetings;

Ensure sample preservation and compliance with ISO 15189 & 15190 standards.

Required qualifications and experience:

BSc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering from any reputed University with an excellent academic record;

At least 1 year of relevant experience in the field of microbiology or molecular biology;

Candidates with experience in microscopy, culture, drug susceptibility testing, IGRA test, DNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis will be given preference.

Number of Position: 01

Contract Type and duration:

Short-Term; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & Benefits:

Monthly Tk. 41,522/- (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidised canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
