Our Team in Central Asia is looking for a Team Leader for a regional water management project, based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan or Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The successful candidate will join our organisation on November 1st, 2026, or upon agreement.
YOUR MAIN TASKS
- Representing the project and Helvetas at national, regional, and international levels, providing confident and politically adept leadership.
- Developing effective systems and processes for financial and operational management.
- Recruiting, empowering, and retaining a highly professional multidisciplinary team with the technical and interpersonal skills required to deliver a complex regional project.
- Managing annual financial and operational planning processes together with consortium partners.
- Ensuring that all internal controls and compliance requirements are fully implemented.
- Coordinating with other key projects and donors in Central Asia, including the Blue Peace project administered by IWMI.
- Maintaining regular formal and informal communication with donors.
- Leading monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning processes, ensuring that M&E findings support learning, adaptation, and continuous improvement.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven expertise in water management and climate change, including a strong understanding of relevant policies and institutional frameworks, preferably in Central Asia.
- At least 7 years of experience managing complex international cooperation projects, including projects with an annual turnover of USD 2 million or more.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Central Asia, the former Soviet Union, or comparable post-Communist contexts.
- Master’s degree or higher in Natural Sciences, Management, Economics, International Relations, or another relevant field.
- Excellent spoken and written English; spoken and written Russian is strongly preferred.
