IOM: Project Assistant – Bangkok


Key Responsibilities

    Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.

    Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.

    Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.

    Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.

    Monitor contracts and budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.

    Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.

    Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, presentations and other forms of documentation.

    Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.

    Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

    Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies, Development Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,

    High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

    Experience supporting project implementation, coordination and administration in a multi-stakeholder environment.

    Experience supporting the organization of events, workshops, consultations or trainings.

    Familiarity with labour migration, social inclusion, migrant protection or related development priorities is an advantage.

    Experience in data collection, information management or reporting is desirable.

    Experience working with international organizations, development agencies or UN organizations is desirable.

Skills

    Strong organizational, coordination and time management skills.

    Strong drafting, communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to monitor project activities, contracts, deliverables and deadlines.

    Experience supporting procurement, financial and administrative processes.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

    Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM’s official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English and Thai is required (oral and written).

Working Knowledge of Karen and/or Burmese is desirable.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
