Model Laboratory Schools at Eastern Kentucky University provides a world-class K-12 educational experience designed to prepare the next generation of leaders. Established in September 1906, Model opened its doors as the first school of its kind in Kentucky as an integral part of the Eastern Kentucky Normal School, which would become Eastern Kentucky University. Model is the only educational laboratory school in the Commonwealth, which has established it as a school of choice throughout the region.

 

Job Summary/Basic Functions

Position is for the 2024-25 school year. Position will design and implement innovative and research-based Family and Consumer Science instruction for secondary students in a laboratory school environment. In addition to providing daily instruction, the teacher will also be responsible for general duties of student supervision, as well as mentoring and instruction of university pre-service teachers. Teachers must meet job description requirements, including physical, such as standing, walking and being able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or above with teacher certification in subject area

Experience:

Licensure & Certifications: Kentucky certification for teaching secondary Family and Consumer Science

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful experience as a teacher

Job Duties:

  • 80% – Design and implement innovative and research-based instruction for secondary Family and Consumer Science students in a laboratory school environment – (Essential)
  • 10% – Provide student supervision, as well as mentoring and instruction of university pre-service teachers. – (Essential)
  • 10% – Maintain required trainings, professional development and promotion and tenure responsibilities. – (Essential)
