Who are we?
The British Embassy in Sofia is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Community Liaison & Corporate Services Officer.
The successful candidate will support UK staff and their families as well as the Corporate Services team, with a focus on both embassy-wide welfare and general administrative matters. This role supports the well-being of UK staff and their families during their stay in Bulgaria, principally in the areas of information gathering, welfare and communication.
The person will be reporting to the Head of Corporate Services.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Provide advice and support to UK staff and their families, helping them with arrival and accommodation in Sofia, ensuring their smooth integration into the life of the Embassy community;
- Supporting UK-based staff and their families with all medical matters – booking appointments, translating, accompanying to hospitals/clinics, assistance with acquiring medical consumables and medicaments. Maintaining close relationship with doctors, medical staff, pharmacies and other medical partners;
- Welfare at Post – welcoming UK staff on posting; support the delivery of embassy-wide social activities; being a source of referral and support; take part in different embassy committees;
- Information gathering on different topics, regular reporting to the HQ;
- Organising different social activities and events for all staff – Christmas, Easter and other gatherings;
- Manage all Bulgarian language training activities at Post, including organisational activities, coordination with providers and managing staff entitlements;
- Provide guidance on visa requirements and support staff with applications and related administrative processes;
- Coordinate the issuance, renewal, and tracking of diplomatic identity cards in accordance with local regulation;
- Helping the Corporate Services Team with ad hoc requests and other administrative tasks.

Essential on arrival:
- fluency in English and Bulgarian languages, both verbal and written at a minimum level of C1 according to CEFR*;
- Excellent customer focus and problem-solving skills;
- Good communication and influencing skills
- Experience with MS Office components like Word, Outlook and Teams;
- Strong organisational skills and experience in prioritising tasks and working towards deadlines;

The successful candidate will receive a non-negotiable monthly salary of 1373€ gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata.
Core skills training and mandatory trainings will be provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. All staff have a personal development plan and access to world class learning and development opportunities.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance. Anyone with right of residence and employment in Bulgaria may apply, including all EU/EEA citizens and the family members of EU/EEA nationals exercising a treaty right in Bulgaria.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions Service according to Bulgarian employment law.
