About the role:
The British Embassy Sofia is seeking a Corporate Services Officer (Estates) to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of our buildings and services. This is a practical, customer‑focused role, helping to ensure that Embassy offices and residences are safe, well maintained and ready to support our staff and visitors.
Working as part of the Corporate Services team, you will help coordinate maintenance and facilities work across Embassy properties, liaise with contractors, and support colleagues with accommodation and other practical needs.
The role involves being visible, organised and hands‑on, helping to solve everyday issues and keep things running smoothly.
You will also provide administrative and coordination support to the Embassy’s security function, such as helping maintain records, monitoring compliance with procedures, and acting as a back‑up point of contact when required. This is not a policy or security management role, but one focused on organisation, follow‑up and service delivery.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys practical work, customer service and problem‑solving, and who takes pride in supporting others and keeping operations running efficiently behind the scenes.
What will be your main duties:
- Help keep Embassy offices and staff housing well maintained, safe and ready for use, coordinating day‑to‑day maintenance with external contractors.
- Be a practical point of contact for facilities issues, helping colleagues resolve everyday problems and following up on actions.
- Support staff arrivals by helping prepare accommodation, organise furniture and manage practical set‑ups.
- Carry out basic health & safety and fire safety checks, keep simple records up to date and follow up recommendations.
- Supervise contractors or visitors on site when needed and support small improvement or refurbishment work.
- Provide light administrative support to security activities (such as record‑keeping and compliance tracking) this is not an operational security role, occasionally step in as back up point of contact.
- Support the Corporate Services team with general operational tasks and ongoing improvements.
Who we are looking for?
We are looking for a proactive and reliable team player who enjoys practical work and supporting others. This role suits someone who:
- communicates clearly and confidently;
- can organise their workload and adapt in a busy environment;
- uses good judgement to solve everyday problems;
- brings a positive, hands‑on approach and is open to learning.
You do not need specialist estates or facilities experience to apply. What matters most is a willingness to get involved, provide good customer service, and help keep the Embassy running smoothly.
If you are looking for a varied, operational role where your work has a real day‑to‑day impact, we would be pleased to hear from you!
