The British Embassy in Paris is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are looking for a talented digital content creator who combines exceptional technical production skills with strong policy understanding. This role requires someone who can craft compelling social media copy on international relations topics, capture professional-quality photography and video, and produce polished graphic design work. The successful candidate will bring these skills together to deliver our digital communications strategy covering policy, soft power and public diplomacy.
Main purpose of the job:
We’re looking for a Digital Content Creator who brings energy, creativity, and a genuine passion for storytelling across digital channels. As the ideal candidate, you’ll instinctively know how to turn key messages into compelling, eye‑catching content that resonates with diverse audiences. You’ll have a strong appetite for digital communications and audio‑visual production, and you’ll thrive in a role where no two days look the same. You’ll enjoy getting hands‑on with filming and editing video, crafting engaging social media posts, capturing high‑quality photography, and designing fresh, creative graphics. Staying ahead of online trends will come naturally to you—and you’ll be excited to explore new ways to make our content stand out. This role sits within a fast‑paced Communications and Engagement team, so you’ll be comfortable adapting quickly to shifting priorities and supporting colleagues where needed. This may include translating written content into French, contributing to our daily press review rota, or helping to maintain our gov.uk web pages. Beyond your core content responsibilities, you’ll also play an active part in supporting the wider network’s corporate objectives, such as staff wellbeing, internal communications, and diversity. You will be expected to support the network’s crisis communications response when required, which may involve occasional out‑of‑hours work. Travel within France may also be necessary, for example during Ambassadorial visits. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for capturing content at Embassy and partner events, some of which take place in the evenings or at weekends. Any time worked beyond contracted hours can be reclaimed as TOIL, in line with the France Network’s Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS).
Role and responsibilities:
Content capture and creation in support of communications and engagement objectives – (Approximately 85% of your time)
- Creating high quality and bilingual written and visual content including photographs, videos and infographics.
- Introducing innovative ways of attracting new traffic to our social media channels.
- Measuring impact of campaigns online and collating and analysing statistics to demonstrate impact.
- Sharing digital best practice across the France Network by transferring know-how and spotting opportunities.
- Working with the media and public diplomacy teams to ensure a regular flow of new and engaging content to highlight the work of the Network and the FCDO. Participating in the successful delivery of Network-wide public diplomacy projects and advising colleagues on the best use of communications to support and promote Network objectives.
- Planning, delivering and measuring the impact of those campaigns. Designing publicity materials and invitations for events and filming and photographing during events.
Wider team support – (Approximately 15% of your time)
- Taking part in the section’s press review rota, which involves summarising news articles Supporting with translations from English into French, for example tweets, press notices etc.

Our ideal candidate shows:
- Excellent English and French language skills (both written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR*);
- At least 2 to 3 years proven experience in writing engaging, concise social media copy for professional/policy audiences;
- Firm knowledge of emerging online trends, influencers and social media networks and willingness to pioneer their use within the Network;
- Good understanding of social media strategies for rolling out Network and FCDO campaigns over multiple channels (website, Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn);
- Professional photography skills with ability to use DSLR/mirrorless cameras in various lighting conditions Advanced videography skills including filming, lighting, and sound capture;
- Expert video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro (or similar professional software);
- Content and Copywriting (Essential);
- Advanced graphic design skills using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign) Photo editing and retouching using Adobe Photoshop;
- Experience creating motion graphics (After Effects or similar) would be highly advantageous;
- Understanding of international relations and comfortable translating policy content into accessible digital formats;
- Experience adapting complex political or diplomatic topics for public-facing channels;
- Interest in international relations and in particular French and British current affairs;
- University degree in Digital Management, Communications, Graphic Design, Social Media.

This is a Part time, Fixed term 12-month contract with possibility of renewal. The position is based on a 24/h across 5 days per week. The monthly salary is 2656 € (gross). In addition, staff receive meal contribution.
All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.

Working Pattern: The position is based on a 24– hour working week.
This is a full-time position. Our team works flexibly, including some time working remotely. However, in line with current policy, the job holder will be expected to be in the office at least 60% of the week – and more often when required e.g. during events or when filming is required.
