The British Embassy in Paris, France is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now recruiting for a GREAT Programme Lead for Europe and Central Asia, FCDO Communications position in Paris.

Main purpose of job:
The overall responsibility for the GREAT Programme is managed centrally by the GREAT Headquarters (HQ) team within Cabinet Office in London, working closely with the FCDO (FCDO GREAT / GREAT Challenge Fund team) to activate the GREAT brand internationally via the large network of UK posts compromising of different cross governmental departments (incl. FCDO, DBT, Visit Britain, British Council, etc.) .
This role will be based in Spain (Madrid or Barcelona) or France (Paris) and report to the Head of GREAT Challenge Fund (based in London), with one direct report.
The role will be a temporary cover for one of the regional leads.
Roles and responsibilities:
As the GREAT Lead for Europe and Central Asia you will be the champion and key point of contact for GREAT in the whole of the region. You will:
- Lead and drive GREAT activity across Europe and Central Asia in collaboration with the central FCDO GREAT / GREAT Challenge Fund (GCF) and GREAT HQ teams and in line with country business and growth plans and communication strategies, identifying new opportunities for GREAT and strengthening existing communications and marketing activity.
- Take a proactive approach to inspire and encourage Posts and Regional counterparts from GREAT delivery partners (such as DBT, Visit Britain, British Council) to run GREAT activities utilising local, regional and global opportunities, ensuring alignment and a joined-up approach.
- Act as an advisor for Posts in Europe and Central Asia in the development of GREAT Challenge Fund (GCF) bids, ensuring quality control and signing off all activity before bid comes to the central GCF team and GCF Board for final approval.
- Act as brand guardian; champion the brand and encourage consistent use of GREAT by xHMG and partners, upskilling where needed.
- Develop and lead relationships with local marketing teams of UK companies operating in the market, working closely with the central GREAT Campaigns and Partnerships Team.
- Champion reporting, evaluation and Return on Influence and Investment (ROI) for GREAT in the regions; regularly share best practice with the central GCF and GREAT HQ teams and other Regional Hubs.

This is a full-time, temporary contract contract to cover a Maternity Leave. The position is based on a 35/h week. The monthly salary is 6,751 € (gross). In addition, staff receive meal contribution.
All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.

Working Pattern: The position is based on a 35-hour working week.
This is a full-time position. Our team works flexibly, including some time working remotely. However, in line with current policy, the job holder will be expected to be in the office at least 60% of the week – and more often when required e.g. during events.
