Who We Are:
The British Embassy in Prague is part of the UK’s global diplomatic network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. Our work supports UK foreign policy goals, deepens bilateral cooperation, and strengthens values‑based partnerships. We are now looking for two Interns at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), who will work with the team to enhance UK trade and investment.
The DBT is the UK Government organisation that helps UK-based companies to succeed in the Czech Republic and other international markets. One intern is expected to join the team from April 2026 to September 2026, followed by another intern from October 2026 to March 2027.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supporting the organisation of business-focused events, roundtables and meetings;
- Conducting market research, validating contacts and arranging meetings to assist UK companies with identifying business opportunities in the Czech Republic;
- Updating databases and other records using internal tools;
- Providing administrative support to the team.

Essential on arrival:
- Full professional proficiency in Czech and English (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR*);
- University background in a relevant field to the internship;
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills;
- A good level of computer literacy (including Microsoft Office and Canva);
- Willingness to learn.

Nice to have:
- Understanding of the business environment in the Czech Republic and the UK;
- Previous experience in administrative and office environments, gained through internships, volunteer work, or involvement with NGOs.

We offer two internship positions:
- One from April 2026 till September 2026
- And one from October 2026 till March 2027
Both placements run for six months and are paid on an hourly basis at a rate of 152 CZK per hour, under a Dohoda o pracovní činnosti (DPČ) contract.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 17:00, with flexible working arrangements available.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a professional background check, security clearance, and a medical examination.
Applicants must be enrolled as students at a university or college in order to be eligible.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in the Czech Republic are subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service in accordance with Czech employment law.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must already have the independent right to live and work in the Czech Republic and must ensure this right is maintained for the duration of the contract.
