The British Embassy in Rabat is looking to recruit a Communications Officer, job grade Administrative Officer (AO) on a one (1) year fixed term contract based in Rabat.
As Communications Officer, the successful applicant will support the delivery of the British Embassy’s comms objectives. This includes managing our social media presence, creating innovative content for the British Embassy platforms and ensuring regular evaluation of platform performance. The role also includes proactively supporting campaigns that enhance the embassy’s work visibility.
The officer will also help the delivery of engaging and purposeful internal communications. The role ensures internal comms are timely, accessible, and creatively presented, supporting staff engagement and effective understanding and delivery of our organisational objectives.
This role will suit a creative individual who is a team player and adaptable to changing requirements. As audience engagement with digital media is constantly evolving, the successful candidate should expect the role to similarly evolve during their time with the Embassy. We are looking for a dynamic individual who pays attention to detail and performs well under pressure.
The successful candidate will work within a communications and events unit as well as with teams across the Embassy and be flexible to demands within the team and be a team-player. They will report to the Communications and Stakeholder Manager.
Duties and responsibilities:
Social media management (45%):
- Develop and implement a platform-specific social media strategy and calendars aligned with agreed organisational priorities and campaigns identifying trends, risks, and opportunities proactively.
- Analyse, monitor, and report on performance metrics and KPIs, including reach, engagement rate, and audience growth. Interpret analytics and use evaluation findings to refine content approach, test formats, and improve impact over time.
- Manage day-to-day social media activity, including scheduling, publishing, moderation and community management.
Content Creation (45%):
- Produce creative high-quality audio-visual content (video filming, and montage/editing).
- Develop creative graphic designs for campaigns, events and key moments in line with agreed messaging and brand guidelines.
- Adapt content for different platforms and audiences, ensuring consistency and relevance.
Internal Communications Content Delivery (10%):
- Assist internal communications outputs in varied formats to support engagement and the timely dissemination of information across internal channels.
The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible as specific responsibilities could change in the future, and this would be at the discretion of the line manager. The job description may be reviewed to meet changes in business needs. The jobholder may also take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

Eligibility:
- Applicants must have the right to work and live in Morocco.

- Demonstrated experience managing organisational social media accounts, including platform-specific planning, audience analysis, and performance analysis using KPIs.
- Intermediate to advanced photo and video editing experience for social media.
- Intermediate to advance graphic designing skills. Experience with graphic design and multimedia production software
- Research skills (assessing various sources, Internet searches).
- Understanding of current affairs, politics, domestic and foreign policy.
- Fluent in English, Arabic, Darija and French, all written and oral.
- Excellent communication skills and organisational skills, including the ability to deliver quality outputs, to prioritise tasks and to work to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and to take initiative as well as being able to work well with others.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of MAD 18238 per month. However, employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The package includes a good level of medical insurance, 21 days of annual leave (calculated on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays, access to on-site swimming pool, tennis court and gym facilities.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The contract will be for a full-time employment, on a fixed term one (1) year contract, subject to one (1) month probation period.
Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week. Normal office hours are from Mondays to Thursdays from 08:00-16:15 and Fridays from 08:00-13:00. Flexible working arrangement may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. Independent working will be evaluated as a behaviour in interviews.
The Embassy and the FCDO have a strong commitment to learning and development, and all staff are required to agree on a learning and development plan with their line manager to keep track of their learning objectives and journey. The jobholder will also be required to undertake a number of mandatory training courses as part of their role.
