The British Embassy in Rabat is looking to recruit an Events Officer, job grade Administrative Officer (AO) on a Fixed Term Contract for one year
The Events Officer will support in the organisation of Embassy events including high-profile visits and activities that support the Embassy’s objectives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of events from across the embassy to support the UK’s goals and showcase its offer across priority sectors. In parallel, the officer will take a proactive lead in selected UK-led events with strong soft power and cultural diplomacy elements such as cultural celebrations, and creative initiatives.
Working within the communications and events unit, the events officer will report to the Communications and Stakeholder Manager. They will help ensure events are not standalone activities but part of a joined-up approach that amplifies impact, visibility, and cross-HMG messaging, contributing to a coherent narrative around the UK’s strengths and partnerships. The successful candidate will also work with different teams across the Embassy, particularly the manager of the Ambassador’s Residence where many internal and external events take place.
Planning and delivery of Embassy events:
- Organise and manage events, including drafting and issuing invitations based on provided guest lists, collating RSVPs, writing event summaries and overseeing the events themselves.
- Act as the main point of contact for external suppliers for event services, manage invoices for events, order supplies including alcohol, ensure value for money and adherence to procurement policy. This includes contracting staff for events, including building and maintaining these relationships.
- Maintain a strategic forward look of events, co-managed with the Residence Manager.
- Build and maintain the events inventories for the Embassy in cooperation with the Estates and Residence team.
- Manage an extensive contacts database for the Embassy.
Lead on soft power and cultural events
- Work as part of a team to conceptualise and deliver UK-led events with cultural, creative, or public diplomacy value, including our flagship event – the King’s Birthday Party.
- Take ownership of initiatives such as national celebrations, cultural programmes, or thematic events
- Ensure these events actively projects UK values, expertise, and influence.
Integrated delivery with Communications team:
- Work as part of a unit with the comms team to embed messaging, visibility and storytelling into events
The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible as specific responsibilities could change in the future and this would be at the discretion of the line manager. The job description may be reviewed to meet changes in business needs. The jobholder may also take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

- A confident and clear communicator with excellent communication skills in English, French and Darija. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written communication.
- At least one year of relevant events planning/organisation, and administration experience.
- Proven record of organisational ability, time management skills, and to work independently. Ability to prioritise and organise own workload and meet deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and without compromising the quality of work.
- Excellent ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, including prioritising effectively to juggle competing demands.
- Strong people skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a busy team.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of MAD 18,238 per month. However, employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The package includes a good level of medical insurance, 21 days of annual leave (calculated on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays, access to on-site swimming pool, tennis court and gym facilities.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The contract will be for a full-time employment, on a Fixed Term contract for one (1) year subject to one (1) month probation period.
Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week. Normal office hours are from Mondays to Thursdays from 08:00-16:15 and Fridays from 08:00-13:00. Flexible working arrangement may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. Independent working will be evaluated as a behaviour in interviews.
The Embassy and the FCDO have a strong commitment to learning and development, and all staff are required to agree on a learning and development plan with their line manager to keep track of their learning objectives and journey. The jobholder will also be required to undertake a number of mandatory training courses as part of their role.

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around 2-3 months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and in the UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidate’s profile and UK footprint.
