Main purpose of job:
The main purpose of the role is providing operational support and assistance to the FCLO to achieve their objectives as set by HMRC and maintain and strengthen the relationship between host agencies and HMRC.
This involves working within a team, providing essential operational support to the HMRC FCLOs primarily located in Singapore and New Delhi and to the FCLO Assistant Director Regional Head of Asia Pacific’s work in respect of the pursuit of criminal finances and other assets; and reducing threats to UK tax regimes from organised crime, customs offences, tax avoidance / evasion and some administrative and logistical assistance, maintaining records in accordance with UK legislation.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- Handle incoming Intelligence reports, identifying appropriate opportunities for developing the intelligence received. Prepare briefing documents for FCLO to support action to be taken or other decisions. Prepare appropriate letters for exchange of information for FCLO consideration.
- Produce Intelligence reports for dissemination throughout HMRC and other UK Law Enforcement agencies, from checks conducted or information received from host agencies and others, for FCLO approval.
- Maintain appropriate records of operational activity and retain material in accordance with UK legislation.
- In the absence of other team members be available to conduct office administration duties under the instructions of the Fiscal Crime Liaison Officer and in accordance with policy and standard operating procedures. Duties include: records management; vehicle management; maintaining office accounts; maintenance of the asset register and gifts and hospitality register; planning travel and visits; and organising events.
- Compile verbal and written briefings as directed, including regular monthly management reporting.
- Provide open source (Tier 1) research support, especially exploitation of information sources.
- Monitor FCLO office mailbox and telephone so that messages are responded to in a timely fashion and / or directed as required.
- Maintain oversight of regional projects as required including supporting monitoring and evaluation of their impact; monitoring budgets to ensure value for money; and producing narrative reports to deadlines
- Support broader corporate/embassy work as directed by the FCLO, especially during any crisis response.
- Work flexibly with occasional attendance at events outside of normal working hours.

Security Clearance – given the security clearance requirement, this role is only open to nationals of the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Clearance involves enhanced vetting, including of financial circumstances. Applicants must have a physical footprint of at least 5 out of the last 10 years within their home country, this is required to obtain SC (O) tier clearance.
Working patterns:
Normal working hours are 37.5 per week: 8:30AM to 5:00PM from Monday to Friday. The team operates a ‘core hours’ policy of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with individual flexibility around that.
Terms of service:
In addition to the duties which this job normally entails, you may from time to time be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the British High Commission as well as HMRC FCLO, including playing a part in the corporate life of the mission and supporting any crisis response.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have or be able to obtain a local work permit which we will sponsor.
Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Singapore employment law.
