About the Opportunity:
The College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University invites applications for a Teaching Professor in the School of Journalism focused on traditional and new forms of storytelling and media innovation. The position is open rank; candidates with potential for a joint appointment in another area are particularly welcome.
Responsibilities:
We seek applicants with a strong interest in inclusive, dynamic, interdisciplinary programs that include print, digital, video and audio. The position will offer opportunities to teach undergraduate and graduate students, work with School of Journalism verticals and help manage our expanding graduate programs and partnerships in Journalism, Media Innovation and Media Advocacy.
The individual filling this position will teach already existing courses and also be expected to develop a new courses in consultation with the Director and faculty. The candidate will also, in consultation with the Director, help manage and support the expansion of our graduate programs along with opportunities for extended learning and partnerships with industry, media newsrooms and non-profits.
The School of Journalism is located in Northeastern’s College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) which has a unique combination of disciplines, including Architecture, Art + Design, Communication Studies, Media and Screen Studies, Music, and Theatre. See: http://www.northeastern.edu/camd.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have, at minimum, a Master’s Degree in journalism or related fields by the appointment start date of August 2021.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record in professional journalism, teaching excellence at the university level, and a commitment to working with diverse student populations in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.
