Relief Applications https://reliefapplications.org is a European company serving the international humanitarian and development sectors. Founded in 2014, by an IT
expert and an experienced humanitarian during the Red Cross response to the Haiyan (Yolanda) typhoon in the Philippines, we provide a variety of innovative services bridging humanitarian work and cutting-edge technology to disseminate new IT tools and significantly improve the efficiency of humanitarian organizations. We are looking for motivated young people to join the team, bring new ideas and turn them into beautiful, yet robust tools. In order for IT tools to have a great and sustainable impact we believe in the necessity of respecting and complying with data protection.
We currently develop tools to help manage emergencies, including transferring money and goods in humanitarian relief scenarios with the latest technologies available, customized apps, web platforms, chatbots, voice devices as well as monitoring and evaluation tools for partners such as the United Nations, the French Red Cross, Save the Children and Oxfam. At the same time, we see the rising importance of data protection within new technologies evolving on a constant basis. In both humanitarian missions and also development projects, beneficiaries are revealing their personal and sensible data. In order to raise awareness for this crucial topic, we created the initiative DP4G (Data Protection for Good – https://dp4g.org) for humanitarian workers in which we regularly provide specialised hands-on training enabling the humanitarian sector to acquire the must-know knowledge and the do’s and don’ts to efficiently apply to the GDPR in their projects.
Furthermore, Relief Applications conducts consultancies about how to fully comply with data protection regulations for international organizations.
