The Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe, representing a single medical faculty that serves both the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin. NeuroCure is a Cluster of Excellence at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and an interdisciplinary research network in the neurosciences focusing on neurological and psychiatric disorders with the aim of better understanding disease mechanisms and developing new therapies.

Junior Research Group Leader in ’Subcellular Optogenetics’
Profile:
The position is intended for a basic research-oriented scientist using cutting-edge optogenetic methods on a subcellular level to address physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms. As leader of this junior research group, it is expected that the successful candidate will establish and conduct independent research, foster technological development, obtain extramural funding, and actively engage in collaborative projects within the Charité and NeuroCure frameworks.
- Applicants must hold a doctorate (Ph.D. or M.D.) in the life sciences, medicine or related areas
- Applicants must have an excellent track record demonstrating the translational relevance of their research
- Applicants should have work experience in international as well as interdisciplinary research teams
- Applicants should have excellent communication skills and leadership potential

Our offer:

The position provides a starting package for research with yearly personnel and running costs, and includes mentoring and flexible childcare support. The initial appointment is for 5 years with a possible extension.
