About the Opportunity

Internews seeks a Learning and Training Specialist to guide our organization towards a unified approach to online, in-person, and hybrid learning across our programs. Reporting to the Director of Knowledge and Learning, the candidate will provide technical expertise to our central offices and program teams about delivering quality content online. The person in this role will be part instructional designer, part LMS administrator, and part training advisor to our global organization.

Training and learning are core pillars of how Internews implements its work, and this is often done in a decentralized manner, as program teams serve the needs of specific projects, and rarely have the opportunity to meet together to advance our global learning. The Learning and Training Specialist will be in a position to support the breadth of program teams to determine the best approaches for delivering training and learning initiatives in the very unique contexts where we operate.

The Learning and Training Specialist will drive the initiative to contract and build a learning management system (LMS), establish guidance for developing engaging online courses and meetings, support the development of online courses and meetings, and provide training in course development. We are looking for a candidate with experience in facilitating online trainings and employing instructional design practices that have a focus on adult learning.

Logistics

This position reports to the Director of Knowledge and Learning of the Technical Leadership Unit who works from the Eastern Time Zone in the US. Ultimately, this job is designed to be remote-first and will work with partners and colleagues around the globe, although candidates seeking an office-based position should feel free to express that desire. Note that right now, all Internews offices are closed and staff are working remotely until at least 1 July 2021. You should apply with the understanding that working hours will need to be coordinated to align in part with the schedule of colleagues working in UTC-5 time zones.

Our current team includes a mix of genders, parents, and non-parents, and people of multiple races, nationalities, ages, sexual orientations and socio-economic backgrounds. We are EEO employer and encourage candidates of all races, genders, ages, orientations, ethnicities, and national origins to apply, and welcome those with alternative backgrounds and experiences.
