Responsibilities of this job are directly related to law school accreditation including drafting regulatory correspondence, document production and retention, assisting law schools in understanding the application and interpretation of Standards and Rules of Procedure for Approval of Law Schools, recruiting of and communicating with site team members, researching accreditation standards, and U.S. Department of Education compliance.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
-Assists in the identification, recruitment, and training of accreditation site team members annually for
participation on domestic accreditation teams and individual site evaluators to conduct other site visits.
-Oversees the identification, production, organization and distribution of accreditation documents and
materials in support of accreditation site teams.
-Assists in organizing and developing educational programs which explain the laws school accreditation
process, and the application and interpretation of accreditation standards.
-Frequently interacts with and provides information to law school deans, faculty, and staff, judges, attorneys, and senior university administrators.
-Provides guidance to laws schools for the purposes of achieving and maintaining accreditation compliance and proper interpretation of Standard and Rules of Procedures.
-Assists senior division leaders with U.S. Department of Education regulations including drafting initial
responses to DOE inquiries and providing all appropriate document and data identification for such inquiries.
-Review accreditation site reports to ensure thorough coverage of accreditation Standards, DOE compliance, consent decree compliance, and consistency with Accreditation Project policies and procedures.
-Research potential accreditation Standards adopted by other accrediting agencies.
-Assists in document organization and production and substantive meeting planning for the Standard’s Review Committee.
-Provides support to the Section Council, and senior leaders within the division.
-Performs other related duties as required.
Required Education, Qualifications, Experience
-Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
-Successfully completed an ABA-accredited paralegal programs; OR, at least three years of work experience in an educational/accreditation setting.
Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience
-Previous experience working with a higher education organization, preferably in legal education.
-Previous work experience in not-for-profit, NGO, and/or Association work setting.
