Summary: Provide trauma-informed individual and family therapy through the Asylum Seeker Assistance Program (ASAP) to enable migrants who have crossed the border to process trauma they have endured prior to and throughout their immigration experience. The Licensed Counselor will provide families with tools for working together as a family unit to stabilize mentally and begin to integrate into the local community. A high level of cross-cultural communication through a trauma informed lens is critical.

While the Licensed Counselor will receive administrative and programmatic supervision from the Area Director of the Dallas or Houston office, he/she is expected to receive off-site clinical supervision from an LCSW or LPC.

*Please note: RST is hiring for two positions in both its Dallas and Houston offices.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct intakes, psychosocial assessments, and diagnosis of clients history of trauma, acuity, strengths, and therapy needs
  • Develop family-centered and culturally appropriate treatment plans and provide outpatient services to include: providing individual counseling, family counseling/training, and/or group counseling. Use evidence-based practices and trauma-informed practices
  • Work cooperatively with members of a larger treatment or service coordination team to provide wraparound services, either internally within the agency or externally in the larger community
  • Develop, facilitate, and effectively present program curricula for classes or groups on human trafficking, substance abuse/mental health, and other topics
  • Screen referred individuals and families for human trafficking, provide regular trafficking group education sessions, and refer identified victims to RSTs Survivors of Trafficking Empowerment Program
  • Responsible for clinical documentation, i.e., progress notes, patient assessments, service/treatment plans, and other forms/records as required in a timely manner
  • Maintain detailed case files and other documentation in 100% compliance with the Asylum Seeker Assistance Program standards
  • Participate in actively soliciting feedback from program participants through distributing satisfaction surveys or other approved means
  • Abide by ethical standards, appropriate regulations, and state and federal laws as provided by licensure and organizational policy
  • Oversee all administration and adherence to funding sources requirements for ASAP
  • Be available to work flexible hours to meet the needs of client populations in the area
  • Maintain complete clinical records of clients served and conduct case reviews on a monthly basis to ensure adequate documentation of services provided per program requirements
  • Preserve privacy and strict confidentiality of client personal information
  • Provides in-service training on relevant topics for co-workers as requested
  • Attend organizational meetings on a weekly basis and as needed
  • Assist in other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as requested
