Department Information
The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice has 32 full-time faculty, over 20 part-time faculty, and over 1,000 majors. The department offers Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice, an accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. The department also offers minors in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Gerontology, Medical Sociology, and Sociology.
With more than 400 full-time faculty and 8000 degree-seeking students, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the largest college at the university, prepares the next generation of leaders in a wide array of fields to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century and become contributing citizens in a global society. The home of three Schools and eight Departments, the College offers more than 80 graduate and undergraduate programs of study in both traditional and interdisciplinary fields. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Limited Term Instructor of Sociology or Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice to begin August 2021.
Responsibilities
Limited term faculty positions are available to teach general education Sociology courses and other undergraduate courses as needed by the department. Limited-term faculty positions are non-tenure track and contingent upon funding. The teaching load is five 3 credit hour courses per semester.
Excellence in teaching and engagement is expected of all faculty members in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Faculty in the Department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
Candidates with demonstrated success in online teaching interested in a fully remote teaching workload are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
A Master’s in Sociology or a closely related field, or its foreign equivalent is required as well as a record of effective university teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will also possess a Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field and have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
Experience in teaching and/or certification in hybrid or online formats and pedagogies is recommended.
