Duty Station: 60 % Maiduguri (40% covering field offices in Area North)

- Roles and responsibilities
General responsibilities:
1) Compliance and adherence to NRC LFS policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
2) Management of project staff according to hierarchy.
3) Coordinate and manage the implementation of livelihood and food security projects (project activities and documentation) in accordance with donor proposals, strategies and requirements.
4) Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
5) Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent the NRC in relevant forums / groups / working groups.
6) Promote the rights of IDPs / returnees in accordance with the advocacy strategy.
Specific responsibilities
1) Assume the leadership of the national team in the start of project activities
2) Support and technical support for the development of staff in their roles and responsibilities at work
3) Identify the priorities, problems and challenges related to the implementation of projects
5) Develop technical tools and documents to implement these new projects
6) Ensure collaboration with the various departmental and national technical services
8) Identify synergies with other NRC sectors such as education and water and sanitation and shelter

General professional skills for this position:
• Master or engineer (equivalent to baccalaureate +5 years) in agronomy, agriculture (economics or extension), veterinary, food science and technology, environment, geography, soil science, agricultural and bio-resources Engineering OR civil engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least 3 years with NGOs in the field of Livelihoods and Food Security in a humanitarian context;
• Experience working in complex and volatile contexts;
• Expertise in socio-economic activities and cash transfers;
• Fluency in written and oral English and Hausa
• Strong ability to manage the entire project cycle;
• Proposal force for new projects and opportunities;
• Experience in conducting multi-sectoral assessments and analyzes;
• Ability to work in close collaboration with local authorities and decentralized technical services;
• Good representation at the level of humanitarian coordination working groups
• High level of communication, flexibility and negotiation.
Background / specific skills, knowledge and experience:
• Experience in project start-up;
• Experience in the implementation and management of food security and livelihood projects in emergencies as well as in early recovery;
• Experience of socio-economic and agro-pastoral activities;
• Experience in the implementation of money transfer program;
• Good report writing and project proposal skills
• Experience in protection and accountability work.
