Summary of position:
Under the direction of the Management and Consular Officer, the incumbent will perform the following key duties:
• Identify, research, trouble shoot, resolve and document IM/IT incidents reported by clients;
• Provide one-on-one IM/IT coaching and support to clients as required/requested;
• Document resolutions of common or recurring IM/IT incidents and share information with IM/IT support community;
• Monitor a service tracking program and IM/IT mailbox on a day to day basis to action IM/IT incidents/requests;
• Movement, setup, and disassembly of IT equipment required by sections or programs
• Identify, analyze, document, and report problems encountered on the IM/IT infrastructure;
• Track and maintain IT inventory;
• Liaise and coordinate with LEITP based at Embassy of Canada in Hanoi and other Information Technology Professionals in the network;
• Keep abreast of informatics technology developments within and outside the Consulate General;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Graduation from a college or university OR an acceptable equivalent through a combination of education and work experience

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

Experience:
Minimum of 1-year experience in at least 2 of the following areas:

• Providing IT or other technical support to clients/users
• Providing support for any technical system, including off-the-shelf software, Internet-based applications, etc.
• Providing support in the use of mobile devices (such as laptops, tablets and/or smartphones)
• Procuring materials and goods for business setting; and maintaining corporate inventories for such items
• Providing direct customer/client service in any area or industry
• Working in an international or multi-cultural office environment

Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of problem solving and trouble-shooting techniques
• Knowledge of MS Office, including Word and Excel

Abilities / skills:
• Ability to plan and organize work
• Ability to maintain services of high quality and apply policies, regulations, and rules with integrity, courtesy and firmness
• Ability to analyze, research, diagnose, and resolve technical problems
• Ability to provide user support, coaching, and training by correspondence, over the telephone and in person
• Ability to describe a problem succinctly and discuss likely causes and solutions with a view to solving the problem.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

Language:
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing, listening, speaking). Please indicate your level of knowledge of the language in your application.

Experience:
• Experience with a diplomatic/consular entity or international organization
• Experience with tracking and escalating service issues using a problem tracking system
• Experience in technical and procedural guidance on the use of LAN and associated IM/IT equipment

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of networking technologies
• Knowledge in information management

• Individual must hold a valid Canadian level 2 (secret) security clearance
• Individual must adhere to Canada’s Code of Values & Ethics

 

Operational Requirements:
• Hours of work: Mondays-Thursday: 08:00 to 16:30 and Fridays: 08:00 to 13:30
• Individual must be able and willing to work overtime (evenings and weekends) on short notice as required
• Individual must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally as required
