Salary: The starting gross annual salary for this tier role is $66,850.00 USD

The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) is a global, feminist, membership, movement-support organisation. The position and profile

AWID is looking to hire a committed individual as the Building Feminist Economies (BFE) Initiative Manager that will provide vision, analysis and programmatic leadership to the activities of the initiative. The BFE initiative is rooted in the realization that gender justice within the existing global economy is impossible to achieve, and aims to strengthen feminist efforts to challenge corporate power and to transform the economy on local and global levels. The initiative aims to deepen our understanding of corporate power and the ways movements and communities are resisting the neoliberal model, as well as to amplify the feminist and just economic visions, models and practices. The team positions its work as an effective contribution to bringing about just economies where people and nature can thrive.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for the development, planning and implementation of AWID’s work with feminist movements globally in challenging corporate power and transforming the economy on local and global levels. You will be making substantive contributions direction in key areas of work, including feminist bailout/post-COVID economic recovery and feminist economic realities. You will be responsible for effective development, strategic direction, oversight and implementation of a broad range of activities, which may encompass research knowledge building, campaigning and strategic communications, convenings, cross-movement alliances and collaborative advocacy strategies in global processes and spaces. You will hold, develop, and maintain relationships with BFE partners and allies, AWID members and various feminist and economic justice movements. You will lead, manage and support the BFE team in alignment with AWID’s shared leadership values/culture.

As the right candidate, you will be understanding of AWID’s values, and be sensitive to upholding them in the way you take up the responsibilities of the role.

Successful applicants will have significant experience in a similar leadership role, in a non-profit feminist, social justice, or human rights organization(s). You should have demonstrated capacity with developing and coordinating research and advocacy initiatives and/or influence strategies collaboratively, while working in or with organizations based in the Global South, in a transnational perspective. You should have a strong understanding of economic justice issues from a feminist perspective within global and regional contexts. You would be someone who can thrive in a virtual environment working with diverse communities and movements across the globe, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.
