The Association
Euromines represents the European mineral raw materials industry towards the European Institutions and international or intergovernmental bodies by establishing a constructive dialogue and by ensuring an early consultation in all areas of EU policy affecting the industry.
Euromines advocates the mineral raw materials industry interests by promoting the benefit and value of both the products and the industry to society and by asserting the industry’s views and positions.
The Responsibilities
Reporting to the Secretary-General of the association, the Manager is going to:
- represent the association towards EU institutions (Commission, Council, Parliament) and will provide specific support to individual Euromines Members;
- through member coordination, develop and execute advocacy campaigns on main priorities in close coordination with the members;
- coordinate positions and advocacy with national and other European industry associations;
- be in active liaison with the other Euromines departments on Environment, Health & Safety and Communication;
- be responsible for the Energy and Climate Committee;
- working on a variety of topics related to the European Commission Green Deal Ambition objectives;
- monitor developments in energy and climate change legislation and policies relevant to the industry (Emissions Trading System, Energy Union, Electricity Markets etc.); and
- analyse such developments & draft position papers or other materials.
The Requirements
- Relevant university degree (preferably a degree in economics, law, or political science) with other relevant degrees being considered as well;
- Strong professional experience of working on EU advocacy campaigns;
- Well-developed understanding of the functioning of EU Institutions;
- Established personal network inside EU Institutions;
- A good knowledge of the constraints of energy-intensive industries would be an asset;
- Strong, result-oriented personality with excellent organisational, communication & presentation skills;
- Efficient in communication with colleagues, members, and EU policymakers;
- Commitment to the significance of metals and minerals mining industry for Europe;
- Problem-solving and good analytical skills;
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to function effectively under pressure;
- Sense of professionalism with excellent English written and verbal communication skills; fluency in another or more EU languages is a desirable asset;
- IT proficient, using the Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, etc.
