We are looking for a

Manager (m/w/d) Information Management and Digitisation

The employment is full-time. The employment offer is initially limited to two years, with the prospect of long-term employment.

In the team “International Cooperation”, you and your colleagues in Berlin and in the project regions worldwide will play a decisive role in the strategic planning and development of digital technologies. Here you will work in close partnership with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and contribute to ensuring that humanitarian aid measures can be implemented more efficiently.

Your tasks

  • Further developing and implementing the Information Management und Digital Capacity strategy within the team “International Cooperation”;
  • Leading and implementing a strategy for technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships;
  • Support of the use and further development of digital technology approaches within the team (e.g. use and further development of the DEEP platform, data-scientific approaches in anticipation work, support of the Missing Maps project);
  • Developing and setting a vision for how technology will be used in projects with a focus on the 4 priority thematic areas (Urban, DRR, Health and Anticipation);
  • Identifying, comparing, selecting and implementing technology solutions to meet current and future needs;
  • Active participation in networks of humanitarian actors and digital partners and assistance in the development and implementation of IM projects within the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement and the international community with a specific but not exclusive focus on disaster preparedness;
  • Support of advocacy efforts for the use of technologies and digital tools in disaster risk management within the Preparedness Working Group in cooperation with other German humanitarian organisations;
  • Keeping abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape;
  • Managing and optimising technology budgets and time frames;
  • Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards (e.g. GDPR);
  • Cooperation with other relevant teams and units within the GRC Headquarters (e.g. IT);
  • Supporting the implementation of the IT strategy within GRC and aligning it with the needs of the team “International Cooperation”;
  • Identifying resource gaps and developing ways to fill them.

Your profile

  • Relevant university degree, preferably in computer science, data science, information management or similar areas;
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a technical role;
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in the humanitarian or development sector;
  • Ability to develop solutions in the field of IM and digitisation independently;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues to people from other thematic areas;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; basic German is an asset;
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic, committed and multicultural team in a global context;
  • Willingness to travel aborad, including tropical countries.
