Midwife

[Ba’qubah,Iraq ]

The Iraq Health Access Organization (IHAO) is interested in hiring a Midwife  who will work on our project in Diayla /Mansoriya whose duties include:

General Job Summary: A Midwife supports women and their families through pregnancy, labor, and immediately after birth. A Midwife is part of a team of professional medical staff that includes doctors, social workers, neonatal nurses, and health visitors. A Midwife may be assisted by maternity support workers and be responsible for supervising them.

 

Essential Job Functions:

1. Follow up with the pregnant women and gives them health instructions about the any risk signs during pregnancy.
2. Educates new mothers about the after-delivery risk signs.
3. Assists the maternity doctor during delivery.
4. Supports the specialized doctor in the maternity ward clinic in the preparation of pregnant women.
5. Prepares the patient and ensures that the necessary checking tools and materials to be used are clean.
6. Works under the supervision of the maternity doctor.
7. Follows up with the newly delivered mothers, to ensure that the baby and the mother are in good condition, and to remind them of the importance of breast feeding.
8. Conducts himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to IHAO and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
9. Performs other related duties as required and assigned by direct supervisor.

 

The ideal candidate will be a female in Midwife graduate  with the following qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing and Midwifery is required.
• A minimum experience of three (3) years as a Midwife or in a related job is required.
• Prior work experience working with a NGO is a plus.
• Excellent team working skills are desired.

 

Preferable qualifications:

• Basic spoken and written English skills
• Experience in providing RH service. 
• Prior experience in NGO work
• Attend three days per week/with the night shift.
• Must have a residence in Diyala Mansoriya.
• Salary will be 550$/month.
