Background

TWB provides language services and multilingual communications support for organizations in diverse sectors, from humanitarian aid to social justice. We use translation and other language services to help increase our partners’ impact.

Role

The Partnership Development Officer is a part of the Fundraising and Communications Team, reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Communications. The Partnership Development Officer will primarily be responsible for scaling up TWB’s partnership program, collaborating closely with TWB’s language services and technology teams.

TWB’s partnership program is an earned income model, whereby TWB provides language services, language technology innovations and services to other non-profits through paid agreements. TWB currently works with over 100 partners from major aid organizations like the WHO and Save the Children to smaller community-based organizations. This person will provide effective leads generation, outreach, communications, on-boarding, sales performance monitoring, and income tracking. The position will also involve database management and administration.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an energetic and proactive team player to contribute to TWB’s mission. This is the right fit for you, if you:

Know how to successfully sell services:

  • You have a history of fundraising, sales, and/or marketing; this is your passion.

  • You are familiar with selling and scaling a product or service as part of an earned income model.

  • You understand NGOs – international, national, and community-based.

  • You want to ensure that the right information and strategies are in place to provide partners with the best service for their needs.

  • You listen to partners and colleagues and try to find a solution that works best for everyone.

Keep things simple:

  • You can untangle complex services and quickly move conversations.

  • You can develop timely, accurate, simple, and clear metrics and reporting.

  • You can evaluate trends, particularly in income, and translate data and insights into solutions that address real world problems.

Love teamwork:

  • You’re comfortable working with remote and globally distributed teams.

  • You’re good at creating and managing relationships with people from diverse areas of expertise.

  • You can collaborate to set measurable goals and achieve them.

Value learning:

  • You take an analytical, data-driven approach to problem solving, working with HQ and field workers to support disadvantaged people.

  • You’re curious and you want to understand why systems are cumbersome — and how to make them better.

  • You’re eager to collaborate and learn new systems and platforms, from Neon, to Hubspot, to Quickbooks and beyond

Are driven and self-motivated:

  • You are happy to set your own goals that contribute to the overall goals

  • You strive to reach beyond your targets.

  • You can find motivation and proactively seek input, advice and new ideas.

Care:

  • You build strong and trusting relationships.

  • You have a good understanding of data privacy issues (GDPR and beyond)

  • You’re hands on and willing to do what is needed to help the team.

  • You care about social issues — these are the problems you want to solve.

Qualifications

The Partnership Development Officer should be enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. This person agrees with TWB´s basic beliefs and values and who can work virtually with team members based throughout the world. The right candidate enjoys working independently and implementing new ideas.

  • University degree – preferably in a relevant field (for example, humanities, social sciences, technology, non-profit sales or marketing).

  • Demonstrated interest in language and commitment to the TWB values.

  • At least one year’s experience of fundraising, sales and/or communications, with a proven track record in developing at least one income stream (e.g. individual donors, or earned income) and a clear aptitude and enthusiasm to learn more.

  • Excellent writing and research abilities; writing sample required.

  • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and database management, ideally with experience of CRM systems, sales and marketing platforms (for example, HubSpot) and cloud software.
