Postdoctoral Research Scholar

We are seeking a two postdoctoral member team for work in Statistical Inference in Biophysics. The positions are full-time, fiscal-year (12-month), benefits-eligible appointments with no tenure implications. Start date of Spring 2022 is preferred though otherwise flexible.

The successful candidate(s) will work with Professor Pressé to develop state-of-the-art analysis tools inspired by Data Science and Computational Statistics to interpret imaging data sets collected from living systems. Major focus areas will include: the emerging field of spatial transcriptomics, where we will decode spatial locations and identity for thousands of RNA targets, often in crowded environments, within tissue samples; unravel gene transcriptional network and dynamics of single molecules; infer protein and RNA interactions leading up to large molecular assembly kinetics and function.

All work is done in collaboration with experiments and the postdoc will participate directly in the NIH Brain Initiative Cell Census Network (BICCNhttps://biccn.org/). As such, our research environment fosters cross-disciplinary knowledge of Data Science, Biophysics, Transcriptomics, and Optics.

There is no teaching requirement. Rather, postdocs will focus their effort entirely on research. Teaching and training experience will be obtained from mentoring undergraduates and graduate students in their respective projects.

Minimum qualifications: Applicants should hold a doctorate in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Physical Chemistry or related discipline by the time of appointment, but no earlier than five years before the start date. Strong programming skills are required.

Desired qualifications: Knowledge in the following areas is helpful but not required: Computational Statistics, Python/Matlab, Stochastic Processes, and Machine Learning.
