Summary of position:
Under general supervision of the Immigration Program Manager or an Officer, supports the delivery of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) Programs through furthering the processing of applications using procedural expertise, assisting an Officer in reporting and liaison, program integrity, Visa Application Centre (VAC) governance, promotion and recruitment activities or other support to clients. Requires a developed knowledge of established guidelines and procedures. Exercises initiative in organizing work, tracking resources, and resolving difficult problems.

 

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Graduation from a recognized university with a bachelor’s degree or above, or an acceptable combination of post-secondary education and work experience.

Language:
• Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking); and
• Fluency in Vietnamese (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience within the last 5 years working on a team, in an administrative support OR case processing support OR client service position.

Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices and Microsoft Office Software

Abilities / skills:
• Ability to communicate in English effectively and clearly both orally and in writing.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Criteria. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Ability to read, write, understand and/or communicate fluently in French;
• Experience in immigration work at a diplomatic mission;
• Experience using Global Case Management System (GCMS);
• Intermediate and above knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Professional experience conducting research and preparing briefs or reports

Operational Requirements:
• Hours of work: Mondays-Thursday: 08:00 to 16:30 and Fridays: 08:00 to 13:30
• Ability and willingness to work overtime (evenings and weekends) on short notice as required.
• Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required

 

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance from the Government of Canada, including providing, among other things, a criminal record check and validation of qualifications.
• Legally permitted to work in Vietnam.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime (evenings and weekends) on short notice as required.
• Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required
• The appointment of the successful candidate will be conditional on a one (1) year probationary period.

 

Area of selection:
This position is open to all employees of the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City and the Embassy of Canada in Hanoi occupying an indeterminate or term position who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in written tests and/or interviews in Ho Chi Minh City or by videoconference. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Ho Chi Minh City at own expense.
