About your role:
WRI India is seeking a Program Research Analyst for the Sustainable Cities and Transport Program to support our work capturing and analyzing transit crowding using technology and a level of service benchmarks for Indian cities. The effort is instrumental in developing a science-based approach to measure, comprehend and address challenges in crowding at transit infrastructure. The initiative will demonstrate the merits of technology and develop a framework that is adapted for transit crowding conditions in Indian and other South Asian cities.
How your day will unfold:
Research:
- Undertake research on crowding science and identify metrics used to measure densities and flow rates. Assess different Level of Service (LoS) approaches for different types of transit infrastructure in different geographies. Support in the development of a methodology to arrive at a LoS approach for transit infrastructure in Indian cities.
- Design and implement quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. Identify and run focused group discussions, interviews, surveys with stakeholder groups. Undertake analysis using quantitative and qualitative tools to assess data collected to inform framework development.
- Identify interventions to optimize flow rates at transit stations through soft touch and hard touch approaches.
Project coordination:
- Coordination with different stakeholders including the transit authority, academic institutions, surveying agencies, etc. for different activities
- Identify different players in the space. Coordinate and lead interactions with these actors
- Contribute to developing literature on transit crowd measurement and management.
Qualifications and requirements we seek:
- Post-graduation in urban studies/ economics/ development studies
- 2 to 3 years of work experience in research roles with on-field experience
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Comfortable with QGIS and Auto CAD
- Comfort in qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Ability to work individually and autonomously. Bring fresh thinking into the project
- Ability to present complex information articulately and succinctly
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel, word and power point
Salary and Benefits: 6,50,000 to 7,50,000 CTC PA
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
Duration: 1 year (Extendable based on performance and project requirements)
