About Badael:

Badael, a registered non-profit organization in Turkey and Germany, was founded in 2013 by a dedicated Syrian rights activist. Badael is committed to supporting and bolstering the emerging Syrian civil society. By drawing upon a grassroots philosophy, Badael is seeking a sustainable and transformative alternative to authoritarianism, militarism, and to the regime itself. Badael’s mission is to foster transformative justice as the foundation for genuine and sustainable peace in Syria. Badael aims to achieve this by supporting organic civil society development and promoting discourses and narratives within and around the Syrian context that are rights-based, pluralistic, inclusive and that facilitate holistic truth and understanding.**

Job Summary:

The Programme Assistant Intern will be primarily responsible for assisting in following up on monitoring and evaluations plans, report proofreading and other relevant tasks. The Intern will work closely with the Programme Director to assure smooth implementation of the M&E plan.

The right candidate should hold a university degree in development, international relations, political science, or a related field. S/he should also have excellent verbal and written English, and preferably be a native English speaker.

This is an unpaid internship that will last approximately 16 weeks.

Terms of Reference: **

● Works closely with Badael’s team to develop reports and other monitoring tools based on Badael’s M&E plan.

● Proofread and edit reports in English.

● Assist team members by maintaining calendars, receiving and composing communications as correspondence, and replies to inquiries.

● Assist in planning and overseeing special events.

● Attend staff meetings and take minutes.

Qualifications:

· Related University degree, post graduate level preferred.

· Fluent in English, English native speaker preferred.

· Excellent English writing, proofreading, and editing skills.

· Proficiency with MS Office.

· Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in peace-building and human rights.

· Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to apply attention to detail and consistently produce work in a timely manner.

· Exhibits strong organizational skills.

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
