ABOUT THE JOB

Work with programme staff to develop high-quality and timely reports for donors and other country- and HQ-level communications.

· Support the Programme Support Manager in the initiatives to expand the portfolios, including contributions to proposal development and program design.

Geographic scope: Area (Afghanistan)

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Reporting to: Programme Support Manager

Direct Report: No Direct Reports

Responsibilities:

Overall Grants Management:

· Support the Programme Support Manager and Head of Programmes with the development of strategy and/or drafting of position papers, thought leadership pieces, and other related initiatives leveraging evidence from programs.

· Support the Programme Support Manager in providing timely, thorough responses to information requests from internal and external sources.

· Correctly use DRC Dynamics functionalities in area of concern

Proposal Development:

· Support the Programme Support Manager in coordinating the proposal development processes, including drafting and producing high quality concept notes and proposals.

Donor Reporting:

· Support the development and preparation of high-quality, timely reports for donors, partners, and government on program progress, ensuring all donor reporting requirements are met and strategically positioned to demonstrate DRCs leadership in programming in the country context.

· Manage reporting workflows and processes between program teams, senior leadership, and HQ to ensure the timely and quality development and review of reports.

· Work closely with program M&E staff to ensure credible, best-practice monitoring and reporting of program activities.

· Lead initiative to identify, research, write, and report on key sector success stories for internal and external audiences, packaging stories that center on evidence to further illustrate impact of the programming.

· Edit and finalize reports and communications materials

External Communications:

· Increase visibility and ensure leadership positioning through developing strategic communication materials, such as sector profiles, impact reports, program briefings, leadership and positioning pieces, and other relevant pieces.

· Serve as main gatekeeper of high-quality reporting and communication activities for all portfolios, drafting original content and providing strategic guidance on positioning and messaging of all reporting and communications materials.

· Perform any other relevant tasks as requested by Line Manager

Key Deliverables:

· Develop concept notes and proposals

· Coordinate and support the preparation and finalization of donor reports

· Serve as lead Communications material focal point for the CO

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

· At least 3 – 5 years’ experience with humanitarian NGOs and at least 2 years’ experience with INGO

· Familiarity with various donor compliance including US and EU donors with special attention to reporting requirements.

· Experience in working with donors, partners as well as internal representation

· Knowledge of the local context in Afghanistan is considered an asset

Education/qualifications:

· University degree in relevent field

· Excellent writing and communication skills;

· Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with national staff and other stakeholders;

· Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and undertake a proactive approach

Languages:

· Excelent skills written and spoken English;

· Understanding of local languages (Dari and Pashto) is desirable.

Offer:

  • Starting date of employment: As soon as possible;
  • Duration of Contract Regular DRC staff contract, including a probation period of 3 months;

    Salary Grade: NMG1
