Program Overview:

WRI India’s Sustainable Landscapes and Restoration program aims to inform India’s transition towards sustainable food and land use systems. The focus of the work is to develop strategies around protecting, maintaining, and restoring forest and agricultural landscapes to secure livelihoods of 700 million people directly dependent on forests and agriculture and strengthen India’s environmental well-being.

Position Overview:

WRI India is seeking an exceptional candidate to advance its ongoing work on reducing food loss and waste in India and support other research responsibilities as part of the Food and Land Use Coalition work that WRI India is undertaking. The position is most suited to an individual who has an interdisciplinary background has a passion for working in the agriculture and food sustainability sector in India. The position holder must be willing to travel within the country as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support development of science-based research framework to understand the different sources and reasons for food waste and loss in India and associated analysis like identifying interventions for a particular sub-sector or value chain to reduce food loss and waste through clean energy solutions
  • Identify and scope new areas of research and innovation around food loss and waste and strategies to take forward the agenda in India.
  • Research and innovation around development and implementation of sustainable practices in food supply chains, and achievement of nutrition security, inter alia.
  • Support the team in developing high-quality knowledge products (reports, policy briefs, working papers) for influencing initiatives on reducing food loss and waste.
  • Support the team in stakeholder interactions whenever necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, natural sciences, environmental sciences, development studies, or any related disciplines.
  • Up to 3 year of work experience.
  • Familiarity with data collection, research and analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal/ written/ communication skills
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced working environment and to juggle multiple assignments with little supervision.

Location: Delhi

Duration: 12 Months 

Remuneration: 7,00,000 to 8,00,000 INR CTC

Salary and Benefits: 

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
