At WRI India’s Climate Program we focus on integrated solutions to enable India’s low carbon transition. Through applied research, tools, hands-on advice, and by tapping our network of global experts, we access what climate policies could enable clean energy transition, what action will enable urban transition and how the outcomes can be just and equitable.

Working at WRI India Climate program offers you the unique opportunity to learn and grow as you collaborate with a diverse set of change agents across India. We seek thoughtful, enterprise-minded, and sensitive individuals who can help us support this transformation and make a positive difference to citizens’ everyday lives.

Position Overview:

As a developing country and as a climate leader, India is at a critical juncture where it is charting its growth towards a low carbon future while meeting its development and infrastructure needs and while raising the living standards across its people. This will entail shifts in our energy systems, industries, transport and consumption patterns. And while these low carbon shifts can bring in better economic, job and development outcomes at the aggregate levels, if not managed well, they could also disproportionately and negatively impact the most vulnerable workers, economic classes, castes and gender. Taking adequate cognizance of such potential impacts in planning and implementing low carbon/climate policies and undertaking measures to minimize and manage such impacts is critical to ensure that the India’s low carbon transition is also just, inclusive and sustainable.

In this regard, the Climate Program at WRI India is seeking a highly motivated Project Associate to help explore the “Just Transitions” issues relevant to the Indian industry in the next decade, sectors that may be adversely affected (e.g., MSMEs) and measures needed to ensure a just transition.
