About the Role

At One Acre Fund, we have many internal Products used by our client departments and country programs, managed by Product Managers. Often, our clients request a larger, cross-product set of Tech features, that we bundle into formal Projects. As a Project Management Associate at One Acre Fund, you will report directly to the Head of Product Management, managing cross-product technology projects for our country programs and global departments. You will manage project teams with members from Product Management, Development, Business Analysts, UI/UX Designers and representatives from our client departments.

Responsibilities

A successful Project Management Associate in the Tech Department will coordinate diverse team members, building agreement, and driving the group to deliver requested features across multiple products. You’ll manage one or more projects that involve one or more technology products to provide a requested set of features or requirements to our client departments. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Manage the success and completion of your assigned projects according to country program deadlines and Development team resources
  • Create documentation for new projects. Ex: project management plans, risk assessments, communication plans
  • Create and coordinate project teams to ensure that relevant product managers, developers and team members are moving towards the same goals
  • Be the main contact for your projects – become an expert in the business context and respond to requests for updates from clients
  • Help create development roadmaps for products involved in your projects

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in project management – ideally in a technology related field
  • 3+ years of experience in one of our countries of operation
  • Strong project management skills, able to coordinate teams of diverse team members to achieve goals. A relevant certification like the PMP is a plus
  • Effective communication skills, with demonstrated experience coordinating information through meetings, written and verbal updates, and other channels
  • Experience creating useful, high-quality project management documents. Ex: PMPs, gantt charts, meeting agendas
  • Language: English is required. Other notable and useful languages are Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Chichewa, or Amharic
