Job purpose:
Under the leadership of the Project Manager, the Teaching and Learning Resource person, also known as teacher Coach will be responsible for tasks relating to coaching and mentoring teachers to improve their attitude, motivation, lesson preparation, delivery and learning assessment. S/he will be required to model best skills, concepts, and qualities that teachers should adopt in their teaching to enhance learning. Learning in Jielimishe GEC Project is defined as the acquisition of critical competencies in Literacy and numeracy. In addition, the officer will be required to support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030.
Key responsibilities
Project Initiation: Programming, identification, formulation, and Design
- Conduct a SWOT analysis alongside the M&E and Resource Mobilization department to identify national and donor priorities.
- In consultation with key stakeholders, identify key issues to be addressed, and the strategies thereof
- Develop feasible and sustainable operational plans that can generate funding
Project Implementation Management: Risk, Procurement, Communication, Quality, Cost and Time Management
- Building the capacity of teachers to effectively adopt best teaching practices towards improvement of literacy and numeracy
- Building the capacity of the other teacher coaches to effectively model best teaching practices towards improvement of literacy and numeracy
- Continuous classroom support, observation and coaching
- Providing feedback to teachers to grow their competences
- Enhance accountability data for learning management
- Continuous individualized coaching of teachers to enhance their teaching practices
- Oversee Gender & Social Inclusion (GESI) mainstreaming and strengthening in project delivery
- Oversee tracking and assessment of 10,123 girls’ learning every term
- Document teachers’ experiences on coaching and mentorship in teaching
- Document Learners experiences on learning based on teacher coaching
- Design Teacher Professional Development packages
- Ensure quality control for cascade trainings towards teacher quality improvement
- Enhance child safeguarding mainstreaming in teacher coaching
Monitored Implementation:
- Ensure timely execution of project deliverables as outlined in the agreement
- Ensure effective utilization of project resources including budget control and value for money
- Effectively Manage information and relations with beneficiaries and key stakeholders
- Ensure Participatory approaches in project implementation towards sustainability
Resource Mobilization and Sustainability
- Conduct and coordinate resource mobilization in the region: target 150M annually
- Design, implement and evaluate projects with an aspect of resource mobilization
- Initiate collaborations with the government, community and corporate
- Develop Resource Mobilization Strategy for the region
Project Monitoring, Evaluation & Control
- Coordinate reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the scope of work
- Coordinate compilation of reports (narrative and data) and submission to CEO as per the set deadlines
- In accordance with donor requirements, create or maintain procedures for capturing and publishing monthly, quarterly and annual project technical and financial reports
- Provide effective Feedback to the target institutions and beneficiaries
- Integrate participatory approaches in M&E
- Coordinate research and evaluation in regional projects
Any other duties and responsibilities in line with project Management
Desired Education and Training

A Bachelor’s degree in Education or its equivalent.

A post graduate Diploma in project management will be an added advantage
-
At least 3 years’ experience in project management implementing education program
-
Professional qualifications in project coordination and management, leadership & management, organizational development, monitoring & evaluation or strategic planning will be an added advantage
Knowledge, Experience Abilities and Skills

Knowledge on project cycle management highly desirable

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent report writing skills

Proficient people management skills as well as mentorship experience and capability.

Excellent command of computers with high IT efficiency

Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program

Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs.

Experience in working in PEPFAR, EU, CDC DfID, UN funded projects is desirable
-
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory and management experience

Relevant experience in monitoring program implementation using qualitative and quantitative approaches

Experience in collecting data that will influence decision making and programming

Demonstrates the ability to negotiate with senior managers at county and national level

Excellent organizational skills

Management and support to M&E team as needed
