Protection Officer – Art Therapy Provider

DRC will contribute to enhancing the self-protective capacity and well-being of displacement-affected communities through the provision of group art therapy services and recreational activities in Azraq camp for children between the ages of 12 and 16 years. **

DRC is looking for an experienced Protection Officer (PSS) – Art Therapy Provider to implement psycho-social support (PSS) activities in the form of structured art therapy in Azraq camp.

About the job

The individual will report directly to Team Leader-Protection. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

· Conducts outreach for potential art therapy beneficiaries.

· Provides structured group art therapy sessions for child beneficiaries (12-16 years), in line with DRC Jordan’s Art Therapy Manual and DRC Jordan’s PSS SOPs.

· Provides day-to-day technical support to Protection Officer (PSS) in the implementation of recreational activities.

· Ensures all PSS activities are recorded accurately and in a timely fashion on DRC Jordan’s IM system.

· Implements all necessary MEAL tools, including pre- and post- tests, with support from the MEAL team in base and the MEAL Technical Unit.

· Alerts the PSS Coordinator and Protection Team Leader of any concerns relating to implementation of DRC’s PSS activities.

· Processes PRs for PSS material, and ensure all sessions have the required materials and tools.

· Ensures timely referral of cases in need of further support.

· Participates in internal and external trainings, as requested by the Protection Team Leader.

· Any other activities, as requested by the PSS Coordinator or Protection Team Leader.

About you

Required / Desirable

• BA in social work, psychology, counseling or another relevant social science.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in protection work in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically including experience in structured PSS programming;

· Experience in providing trainings and building capacity of staff would be an advantage.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and prioritize the safety and dignity of beneficiaries at all times;
• Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
• Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
• Flexibility in working overtime when needed;

· Previous experience working with refugees in Jordan is an advantage;

· Experience working with adolescents is an advantage.
